We acquired the next generation approval mark "Kurumin" -Approval based on the law for measures to support the development of the next generation by the ministry of health labor and welfare and the Niigata labor office -
Asahi Carbon Co., Ltd (President Seiichiro Nishide) as a corporation that fulfilled the standard criteria regarding child-care based on the law for measures to support the development of the next generation, on February 27th 2014 we were approved by the ministry of health labor and welfare and the Niigata labor office. Approved corporations are able to use the next generation approval mark "Kurumin".

This time based on the law for measures to support the development of the next generation established for general businesses' main action plans, the following is the main process of our approach that led us to be approved.

Main approach toward child-care support
(1) Approach aimed to prepare an environment for easy use of our child-leave system. Appeals were made for acquisition of paid days and during the period planned we achieved a 100%* female child-care leave. Also during that term one male took child-care leave.
(2) We introduced a re-incorporation system for personnel who retired due to maternity leave, child-care or nursing.
*rate of child-care leave acquisition = number of women that gave birth during the period / number of women that took leave during the period x 100%

Approach toward improving work life balance
Through the following approaches, up to the end of the period planned we achieved our target of reaching a lower annual average of fixed working hours per person than in 2008.

Main approach to support schools in our area
Not only with our approach to prepare an environment for employment but we also conduct the following activities with the purpose of raising the children in the surrounding area.
(1) We donate to neighbor schools ink which raw material is carbon black
(2) We give lectures at neighbor schools
(3) We accept internships from neighbor high schools and graduate schools
(4) We accept visits from neighbor junior high schools
Our company strives to prepare a working environment where a variety of people can work easily and have an active part. In the future, also, in order to promote diversity, we will develop several approaches including active participation of women.
